2025 Theme:
CHILD PROTECTION – EMPOWERING ORGANISATIONS
AND INDIVIDUALS ON THE SAFEGUARDING OF CHILDREN
The IBL on the Move is a sporting event organised by IBL. Its aim is to create a meaningful impact in the community and society we work in, by supporting a non-profit organisation that addresses a key area of need.
Mauritius has made positive steps toward child protection through international commitments, national legislation, and the efforts of civil society. However, significant challenges persist, particularly in ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and services for children with disabilities or those at risk of substance misuse. Continued and collective efforts are needed to ensure that all children, regardless of ability, are fully protected and included in society.
Building on our aim to support impactful initiatives, this year’s call for proposals focuses on addressing the challenges in child protection. We invite non-profit organisations to submit project proposals for the 13th edition of the IBL on the Move, which will take place on Saturday 12 April 2025 at Azuri Ocean & Golf Village. Proposals must be submitted to the IBL on the Move Committee by 4:00 PM on Monday 23 December 2024.
The selected project must address one (1) of the following three themes:
Theme 1: Safeguarding children to enhance child protection at organisational and community levels
- Safeguarding policies and practices: Training stakeholders (e.g., staff, social workers, and governmental agents) involved in child protection within community-based organisations.
- Community engagement and awareness: Advocacy campaigns to promote child rights, highlight the importance of child protection, and educate communities on how to safeguard children.
- Other related initiatives: Actions aligned but not limited to the above sub themes.
Theme 2: Education and training for young people living with disabilities
- Improving access to education: Providing tools, equipment, and resources to empower vulnerable young people with disabilities and improve their access to training that enhances employment opportunities.
- Other related initiatives: Actions aligned but not limited to the above sub themes.
Theme 3: Prevention of substance misuse among young people
- Substance use prevention: Targeting young people aged 10 and above with initiatives focused on preventing substance misuse.
- Parental support: Empowering and counselling parents to support their children in prevention efforts or, where needed, guiding them towards professional help.
- Other related initiatives: Actions aligned but not limited to the above sub themes.

APPLICATION FORM
Created in 2005, the non-profit organization Joseph Lagesse Foundation is an initiative of IBL’s Group Chief Executive Officer, Arnaud Lagesse.
The Foundation is committed to helping those who are most in need and gives priority to projects in 5 areas: the right to a decent home, health, social issues through the foundation’s work on the ground, education and early childhood and environmental protection.
Convinced that the earlier the education of children is taken care of, the better their future and tomorrow’s society will look, the Joseph Lagesse Foundation has always been committed to early childhood and education. Over the years, the organization has also specialized in the fight against social exclusion, achieving poverty reduction and community development. It also does its best to help and respond to requests from those who need health care that is often inaccessible because it is too expensive.
